Quentin Blake is one of Britain’s best loved and most successful illustrators and children’s authors. His first pictures were published in ‘Punch’ when he was just 16 years old. Since then he has illustrated nearly 300 books with several authors, but most famously with Roald Dahl. For many years he taught at the Royal College of Art where he was head of the illustration department from 1978 to 1986. He has won many awards and prizes and was awarded the OBE in 1988 and a CBE in 2005 for services to children’s literature.
“…I like the characters I draw, and I feel close to all of them. I try to imagine how it would be to be like them as I draw.” Quentin Blake.
