Janet Nelson is a Scottish Artist, now living in Leicestershire. Mainly self-taught, apart from 3 years of part time study with Leith College of Art she works mainly in acrylic, which she loves as a medium because of its adaptability, giving her a range of styles from wet-into-wet watercolour right through to a thickly laid on, almost 3-D effect!

Her favoured painting style is semi abstract and her subject matter is the sea, because of its association with fast flowing movement and with yacht racing (her other passion!). Working with what she see’s, but ‘enhancing’ the mood of it through the method of paint application and colour.
