Darren Stevenson, from Southwell, Nottinghamshire is a self-taught artist working mainly in oils. With no classical training he has painted all his life generally for fun and family pleasure.

Darren’s love of life and the countryside is innate within his personality and reflected in his paintings. His quintessential quest is to capture the mood and light within a piece of work. Light is of the utmost importance when painting the land, sea or sky – something which Darren carefully considers before each creation. He likes to paint from personal experience not from photographs or computer generated images. He strives to be the first person on the beach in the morning and the last to leave at night.
